The evening
Sunset, a Moroccan dish and music under the stars
After a day in the waves, come up to the rooftop for the best hour of the day. We serve a home-cooked dish of the day, then local musicians take over: hypnotic Gnawa rhythms one week, acoustic sessions the next.
- 19:30Mint tea and sunset over the Atlantic
- 20:00Dish of the day: tajine, couscous or fish of the day, vegetarian option
- 20:30Live Gnawa (guembri and qraqeb) or acoustic music
- 22:30End of the evening, early surf tomorrow
What is Gnawa music?
Gnawa is a spiritual music tradition of Morocco with roots in West Africa, recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. The deep sound of the guembri, a three-string bass lute, and the metallic rhythm of the qraqeb castanets create a trance-like groove that is impossible not to move to.
