- Stand in waist-deep water, turn the board toward the beach and lie down when a wave of foam arrives.
- Start paddling before the wave reaches you, so you already have speed.
- When you feel the board being pushed, give two more strong strokes. Most beginners stop too early.
- Only then pop up, and keep looking at the beach, not at your feet.
- Fall flat and away from the board, protecting your head with your arms.
