Tamraght is a small surf village on the coast just north of Agadir, next to Taghazout. Getting there is easy, and most guests are on the beach a few hours after landing. The nearest airport is Agadir Al Massira, with direct flights from many European cities, and Marrakech is a good backup when fares to Agadir are high.
This guide covers everything you need to plan your arrival: which airport to fly into, flight times, airport pickup, taxis, buses, coming from Marrakech, entry rules, money, phones and practical tips for your first day.
Getting to Tamraght at a glance
- Nearest airport: Agadir Al Massira (AGA)
- Drive to Tamraght: about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic
- Flights from Europe: usually three to five hours
- Alternative airport: Marrakech (RAK), about three and a half to four hours by road
- Airport pickup: included in all our surf packages
- Check-in / check-out: rooms ready from 2 pm, check-out before 11 am
The closest airport: Agadir Al Massira (AGA)
Agadir Al Massira is the nearest airport to Tamraght and Taghazout. It lies south-east of Agadir city, and the drive up the coast to Tamraght takes about 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Many European cities have direct flights to Agadir, including low-cost airlines and Royal Air Maroc, with more routes in the winter surf season.
- Flight times: usually three to five hours from Western and Central Europe
- Best value: book early for winter and school holidays
- Tip: compare nearby departure airports; prices can vary a lot between cities
Airport pickup with Endless Wave
Airport pickup and drop-off are included in our surf packages. Send us your flight number and arrival time on WhatsApp after booking and a driver will be waiting for you at arrivals. No haggling, no stress, even if your flight is delayed.
- Your driver waits in the arrivals hall
- Boards and luggage are no problem
- Late-night arrivals are covered
- The same service takes you back for your flight home
Taxi from Agadir Airport
Taxis wait outside the terminal. Always agree on the price before you get in, and have the address of your accommodation ready. Prices can be higher late at night. A pre-booked transfer is more comfortable, especially after a long day of travel.
Getting to Tamraght from Agadir city
If you are already in Agadir, you can take a petit taxi or grand taxi north along the coast road. Tamraght is around 15 to 20 km north of the city centre, and the ride takes about 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Local buses also run along the coast towards Taghazout; ask at your hotel for the current line and timetable.
Flying into Marrakech instead
If flights to Agadir are expensive or full, Marrakech is a good alternative.
- Private transfer: about three and a half to four hours to Taghazout Bay
- Intercity bus: companies such as CTM and Supratours run between Marrakech and Agadir; continue by taxi to Tamraght
- Tip: it is a long day, so many travellers spend a night in Marrakech before or after their surf week
Arrival tips
- Passport: check the entry rules for your nationality before you travel. Many European visitors do not need a visa for a short stay
- Money: the local currency is the Moroccan dirham. There are cash machines at the airport, and cash is useful for cafés, markets and tips
- Phone: local SIM cards with data are cheap and easy to buy at the airport or in town
- Boards: you do not need to fly with a board. Boards and wetsuits are included in our packages
- Check-in: rooms are ready from 2 pm and check-out is before 11 am
- Winter arrivals: keep a warm layer in your hand luggage for cool evenings
Your first day in Tamraght
After check-in, take a walk through the village, watch the sunset from the rooftop and meet the group over dinner. Your coach will explain the plan for the week, check your level and choose the best spot for your first session the next morning. If you are not sure of your level, try our surf level test before you arrive.
